He spends the balance of his time with family or exploring the world on two wheels with the wind in his face. The unique character of his songs fuse elements of folk, rock, blues and Americana/Canadiana into a special blend of universally themed storytelling that, along with his down-to-earth personality, create magic that audiences adore.

Vendela Astrid Young is a Canadian musician. She is the daughter of journalist, sportswriter, and novelist Scott Young and his second wife Astrid Carlson, and the half-sister of fellow musician Neil Young, who bought her her first amplifier in the 1970s

. I am a singer-songwriter-musician with influences that range from classical to heavy rock, with a healthy dose of blues and country in between. i've been playing music since i was able to walk. i like to say, "know my music and you'll know me." so if you're wondering what i'm like, there's your jumping off point.

My discography dates back to 1984 and since then i've played or sang on more than forty releases, some my own, but most as a side-musician or backup singer. i've been in a lot of rock bands, and my solo acoustic shows have been compared to "Alice In Chains Unplugged." Music Connection Magazine once said i was "More closely related to Angus" and i think that's pretty cool. i've played stages large and small all over the world, from the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Hollywood to Paradiso in Amsterdam. my early influences were classical - Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Beethoven ... which evolved into Black Sabbath, Kate Bush, and others ... truly, i love texture and feeling. music changes everything - it's a living, breathing art form that never ceases to fascinate. i play piano, bass, and 12-string guitar, some say like a weapon.
