We are thrilled to welcome a quartet of local mystery writers—Laurie R. King, Cara Black, Kelli Stanley and Michelle Chouinard—to discuss their new books, writing about cold case mysteries, and anything else they—or you—want to talk about.
The event is free but please register to attend. Space is extremely limited. If you would like to preorder books, you may do so as part of the registration process. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to complete your book purchase before the event begins.
Laurie R. King is a third generation Northern Californian and NYT bestselling author of 30 novels and other works. San Francisco is the setting for her new Cold Case series featuring SFPD Inspector Raquel Laing. She also writes the historical Mary Russell-Sherlock Holmes stories, the SFPD Inspector Kate Martinelli series, and numerous others. Laurie has won the Agatha, Anthony, Creasey, Edgar, Lambda, Macavity, Wolfe, and Romantic Times Career Achievement awards. She has an honorary doctorate in theology, and is a Baker Street Irregular and a Mystery Writers of America Grand Master.

Cara Black is the author of twenty-one books in the New York Times bestselling Aimée Leduc series as well as the WWII thrillers Three Hours in Paris and Night Flight to Paris plus her historical fiction novel, HUGUETTE. She has won the Médaille de la Ville de Paris and the Médaille d’Or du Rayonnement Culturel and received multiple nominations for the Anthony and Macavity Awards; her books have been translated into German, Norwegian, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian, and Hebrew.

Kelli Stanley is the creator of the Miranda Corbie series, literary PI novels set in 1940 San Francisco and featuring "one of crime's most arresting heroines" (Library Journal). She's been honored with numerous nominations and awards, is a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist, and was the Historical Guest of Honor at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention. Her debut novel, Nox Dormienda, is set in Roman Britain and won the Bruce Alexander Award for best historical mystery. Her latest novel is The Reckoning, a bestselling suspense thriller set in Northern California's "Emerald Triangle" amidst the marijuana wars and serial killings of 1985. Kelli lives in San Francisco, holds a Master's Degree in Classics, and is addicted to film noir, fog, coffee and research.

Michelle Chouinard is the Mary Higgins Clark Award nominated, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and San Francisco Chronicle bestselling author of The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco series, the Detective Jo Fournier thriller series, and the standalone thriller The Vacation. She has a Ph.D in developmental psychology from Stanford and was a U.C. Merced founding faculty member. She enjoys amateur genealogy, zombie hunting, baking, and is held together by caffeine and dry shampoo.
