Description
Struggling with the wheel, or ready to throw larger? Coil throwing combines handbuilding and wheel throwing to create pieces 8-10 inches tall.
In this class, you’ll learn how to:
● Create a template for your desired form
● Begin a base using a wheel-thrown or slab technique
● Make coils for your pot in multiple ways
● Smooth and refine the surface using throwing techniques and ribs
This class is beginner-friendly and requires no previous wheel experience, although any you have will be helpful. After class, clay studio members can continue working on their pieces in the studio. Non-members can take their pieces home to finish or reclaim the clay.
This class is taught by Nichole Schiller of A&N Ceramics. Nichole has been teaching ceramic classes for the past 6 years and her classes are approachable and accessible to learners of all levels.
