Join the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship of Western Australia (CMDFWA) for a dessert night in which Carmen Derry will share about her work serving on Mercy Ships Australia. More from the speaker:
"I've been a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years, with the majority of my career spent in operating theatres across Western Australia, working in both tertiary, metropolitan and country WA hospitals. A Swan Valley girl at heart, I now call the Perth Hills home.
Over the past two years I have had the incredible privilege of volunteering with Mercy Ships, serving aboard hospital ships in Sierra Leone and Madagascar. This has provided the opportunity to working alongside local and international surgical teams and a whole ship of incredible talent. I have been able to share my experience in perioperative nursing while learning from international healthcare teams with professionalism in a very different setting.
These experiences have been about much more than medicine and surgery. Making a difference in caring for the most needy in a challenging country with compassion and the privilege of using my skills alongside others is very rewarding. A worshipping community and the opportunities to share Jesus love, praying for others and making lasting connections has been a wonderful way to serve".
