Join our trained gallery educators for a guided tour of the special exhibition "Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955-1985." Each discussion-based tour will provide participants with the opportunity to engage with exhibition themes and learn about select works of art. Olivia Spann was born in Greenville, South Carolina. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a double major in History and African American Studies, as well as a Master’s degree in Public History. She began her history career in 2016 at McLeod Plantation Historic Site in Charleston, South Carolina, where she interpreted the history of slavery with a primary focus on enslaved women and Black women’s history. Upon leaving McLeod in 2021, she began working as a Park Ranger at the Reconstruction Era National Historical Park in Beaufort, South Carolina. In 2022, she moved to Jackson, where she currently serves as the Supervisory Park Ranger at the Medgar and Myrlie Evers Home National Monument.
