In the face of rapid climate change, the future can feel dire. Yet this moment is filled with possibility. Across the world, new technologies, ideas, and movements are transforming how we power our societies and confront the climate crisis.

Join two leading voices in the climate movement for a discussion on solutions for charting a new path forward. Acclaimed environmentalist and author Bill McKibben’s Here Comes the Sun explores the growing field of solar power and its potential to replace fossil fuels as an energy source. In her new book, Climate Wayfinding, Katharine Wilkinson—named by Time as one of fifteen “Women Who Will Save the World”—offers a guide to moving forward with courage from the devastation of the climate crisis.

In a conversation moderated by The New Republic staff writer Kate Aronoff (Overheated), McKibben and Wilkinson will explore the innovations, ideas, and actions that can chart a new path forward for the planet and ourselves.

The 2026 PEN World Voices Festival is a celebration of world literature and free expression. The 2026 edition will be the 21st World Voices Festival. Over four days, over 140 writers from over 40 countries will be featured in 40 engaging talks, panels, readings, and activations in New York City and greater Los Angeles.
