About this Event
What is the Climate Change Careers Sprint?
This isn’t a traditional careers event.
Students will work in teams on a live innovation challenge:
What low-cost idea could you introduce in your school to make it more sustainable?
Using a simplified design thinking process, teams will identify a challenge within their school, generate ideas, develop a practical solution and present their concept to a panel of industry and sustainability experts.
They’ll then use expert feedback to improve their idea and create a simple plan for taking it back into school.
What could students work on?
Teams could explore challenges around:
- waste and recycling
- energy use
- food and food waste
- travel
- biodiversity
- water
- green spaces
- School community behaviour change
- sustainability and community engagement
The focus is on ideas that are practical, affordable and achievable within a school environment.
What will students gain?
During the sprint, students will develop experience in:
- creative problem-solving
- teamwork and collaboration
- design thinking
- innovation
- communication and pitching
- sustainability
- turning an idea into an action plan
