About this Event

Climate Cafe

The world can be a difficult place to exist in, and increasingly so, as we witness the climate crisis impacting everything we hold dear. It can be hard to think about the present, let alone the future. Many of us will be facing a confusing mix of emotions as the emergency unfolds, but talking this through with others can help.
This 'Climate Cafe', guided by the work of the Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA), is a community support group organised by several concerned Lewisham residents. Two of these will co-facilitate every session, but ultimately it is a group-led conversation. It is a safe - non-judgemental, confidential - and inclusive space to connect with what we are feeling and with others.
We've borrowed the word 'cafe', like the CPA, to suggest the warmth and hospitality of the space we're creating for each meetup. Do please note, though, that after 10 minutes past the start time, we will close the doors to latecomers to avoid any disruption.

Who is this for?
Anyone 18+ who thinks they might benefit from exploring their feelings on the climate crisis - definitely no expertise required. It can be taboo to talk about our emotions on this topic. If you have anything unexpressed or unsaid in this area, or you just want to reflect on how you really feel, the Climate Cafe is for you.
We welcome too anyone involved in climate activism, although our focus in the sessions is not on action or guiding anyone towards particular conclusions. We do not recruit people to protest or environmental groups in the space.
