Let Us Go Then, You and I is a journey of self-examination and investigation that leads Theo from his hometown of Washington, DC to New York City, as he searches for the truth about his late friend. Pulitzer Prize finalist Lee Martin calls it a “delicately spun tale of identity and the attempt to alter the course of one’s life,” and “a gorgeous and courageous book,” adding, “I cared deeply about its protagonist.”

Clifford Thompson’s previous books include What It Is: Race, Family, and One Thinking Black Man’s Blues and Jazz June: A Self-Portrait in Essays. His work has appeared in Best American Essays and the Pushcart Prize Anthology. He is the recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award for nonfiction, and teaches creative nonfiction writing at Sarah Lawrence College and the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Thompson lives in Brooklyn.
Sylvia Jones lectures at George Washington University and serves as poetry editor for Black Lawrence Press—she also reads for Ploughshares. Her debut collection —Television Fathers was released in 2024 through Meekling Press. The followup, Dope Calisthenics, will be released this upcoming fall with Relegation Books. She earned her MFA from American University and lives in Baltimore, MD.
