Mammal Sculpture in Clay
Students will make 2 sculptures in stoneware clay of a mammal (fox, badger, seal, for example). The finished pieces will be approximately 15cm long. They will use 2 different methods of creating the initial forms. They will refine these forms and add details such as fur and patterns. They will finish off by applying underglaze slip to colour the clay in several different ways
Resource images will be provided, although students may bring their own. They may have a favourite mammal.
The sculptures will be taken away to be fired, and students will be able to pick them up from the gallery approximately 4 weeks after the workshop.
This workshop includes lunch in the lovely National Trust-run Crofters Cafe. Please inform us in advance of any allergies or dietary requirements we need to be aware of. Whilst we do our best, we can't guarantee that any other dishes are totally allergen-free.
