About this Event
Clay & Quiet Hands: Beginner Pottery Social — Scottsdale
You don’t need to know pottery. You only need two hands and one slow Sunday afternoon.”
Clay & Quiet Hands is a small beginner-friendly pottery gathering designed for people who want to make something slowly, spend an afternoon away from the usual rush, and meet others without the pressure of formal networking.
You are welcome to come on your own.
There is no stage, no public introduction round, and no expectation that you arrive knowing anyone.
Instead, 14 guests will sit at small tables, learn a simple hand-building pottery project, work at an unhurried pace, and let conversation happen naturally while their hands stay busy.
No pottery experience is required.
No pottery wheel is used.
For this edition, guests will make a small desert-inspired bud vase using beginner hand-building techniques.
WHAT THE AFTERNOON LOOKS LIKE
The room is arranged in small groups rather than one long communal table.
At the beginning of the session, each guest receives a simple table card with two optional prompts:
Your name
Something you would like to slow down
You may complete both prompts, only your name, or leave the second prompt blank.
The card is simply a gentle way to make the table feel less anonymous.
There is no forced icebreaker.
There is no structured networking exercise.
THE POTTERY PROJECT
A ceramic instructor will guide the group step by step through a beginner hand-building project.
You will learn simple techniques for:
• Shaping clay by hand
• Joining clay securely
• Building a small vessel
• Adding texture and simple details
• Preparing the piece for drying and firing
The project is designed for first-time participants.
Each paid attendee may submit one workshop piece for the standard firing and finishing process.
