Seattle’s inaugural Civic Poet and former Washington State Poet Laureate presents her first memoirThird Place Books welcomes Seattle poet Claudia Castro Luna for a reading from her memoir, The Flowers Along the Way.
Fleeing political unrest and civil war violence in El Salvador, fourteen-year-old Claudia Castro Luna arrived in the United States with her family in 1981. The Flowers Along the Way is a gripping memoir interrogating how trauma follows us close behind.
"Among the most important poets of the Salvadoran diaspora, Castro Luna's prose is precisely imagined, luminous and wise, and her story will harrow and uplift you.” —Carolyn Forché
