CJC is thrilled to present two mainstays of the New York jazz scene, in Auckland for one night only! Friends & collaborators, Matt Penman and Aaron Golgberg present original music in a piano trio format. Matt Penman should need almost no introduction to NZ audiences. He is among the most in-demand bassists at the highest echelon of jazz world-wide - and we’re thrilled when we get an opportunity to host him for his old home-town crowd.
Aaron Goldberg is widely heralded as one of the art form’s most compelling pianists. Simultaneously swinging and embracing risk, his stylistically fluid, singular voice reveals that jazz is a tradition of innovation.
"Aaron Goldberg is one of the greatest jazz pianists alive today and his contributions to the art form as a performer and educator continue to enrich the scene in New York and throughout the world. We have had untold opportunities to collaborate over the last 30 years, including playing on each other's albums and touring the globe and I'm thrilled to be able to appear in Auckland with this fantastic musician and great friend," says Matt.
Matt & Aaron will be joined by local drummer Adam Tobeck for this special concert.
