City Funk Orchestra - The capital’s best and most popular funk/soul dance band plays to packed houses throughout London and the South filling a variety of popular music venues. CFO are now a regular attraction at both soul and mainstream festivals and Summer 2025 first saw them appearing amongst the headliners at the Saturday Love Festival in North London. Many Hampton Hub regulars will have been amongst the crowd on its feet at Hampton Pools Festivals in recent years, on the bill with amongst others Average White Band, Tony Hadley, Amy Winehouse Band, The Feeling and famously Kid Creole and the Coconuts. Their biggest audience was last Summer’s 10,000 capacity Cropredy Festival in Oxfordshire opening the evening for Trevor Horne where the band was a massive success. The band’s sound centres around the soul and funk ‘golden age’ of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, to which these top players have added the magic ingredient of genuine authenticity. Their own CFO penned material blends seamlessly amongst the big dance floor fillers the band have made their own. Featuring two of the best soul singers in the UK in regular female lead Imaani (longtime lead singer with internationally acclaimed UK jazz funk legends Incognito), and the amazing Mary Pearce (Culture Club, Roy Ayres, Primal Scream) - with a funky-as-it-gets rhythm section of Nial Tompkins-guitar, Carl Hudson-keys, Matt Pegg-bass, Geoff Dunn-drums.
In October ’25 City Funk Orchestra released the first of their self written/produced original songs (more coming up) - featuring Imaani - and was greeted with a great reception from the major UK soul radio stations including several ‘Record Of The Week’ accolades from top soul/funk DJ’s.
