Cody Vining (RESPEC)

Cody Vining, is a rock mechanics engineer with nearly 20 years of experience specializing in potash and salt mining. Having worked with more than 40 mining operations worldwide, he leads work that helps mining companies understand and manage the effects of stress, temperature, and geology on mine performance through integrated mine design, monitoring, laboratory testing, and numerical modeling. His focus is on reducing geomechanical risk, improving ground stability, and supporting safe, efficient operations as mines advance to greater depths.

Presentation Information

Rock Geomechanics In Potash Mining at Greater Depths

As potash mines move deeper, rising stress and temperature create new challenges for ground stability, infrastructure, and operating efficiency. This presentation explores how integrated mine design, geomechanical modelling, laboratory testing, and monitoring can help operators anticipate changing conditions and manage risk. Together, these approaches support safe, reliable production and long-term asset performance.
