About this Event

Welcome to Chá-Fé's Chinese calligraphy class! Join us for a unique experience where you can learn the art of Chinese calligraphy in person. Immerse yourself in the beauty of this traditional craft while celebrating Halloween with us.
We are thrilled to collaborate with a professional calligrapher, May Chan from InkJoyGraphy who will guide you in the art of Chinese calligraphy, allowing you to create your own masterpiece to take home.

About Our Teacher:

May Chan, aka InkJoyGraphy, is a Chinese calligrapher based in the UK with over 20 years of experience in Chinese calligraphy. Her work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, earning her multiple awards in Hong Kong. In 2012, she completed a diploma in Chinese calligraphy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Over the past few years, she has hosted calligraphy lessons and workshops in the UK, teaching over a thousand students. In addition to teaching, May has collaborated with prestigious brands and companies such as the British Museum, Jo Malone, David Morris, Bucherer, Chloe, HSBC, PayPal, Givenchy, and Greenwich Peninsula etc.

About Our Class:

1st class : 26 Oct Saturday 17:00-18:30

2nd class: 16 Nov Saturday 17:00-18:30

- We'll start together with a short introduction to Chinese calligraphy, covering different fonts, techniques for holding the brush, etc.

- Following the introduction, we'll proceed with some strokes practice to familiarise everyone with the basics.

- After approximately 30 minutes, participants will have the opportunity to choose which characters they'd like to work on.

- They will then have time to practice their chosen characters before finally writing them on the provided art paper. We are creating bookmarks on the first class and a Chinese scroll on the second class.
