There are few things as beautiful as a hand-crafted Christmas wreath so come join us this festive season and get into the spirit of Christmas by making your very own wreath and perhaps learn a skill you can use forevermore! Sip a festive drink (alcoholic options will be available for this event), treat yourself to a mince pie or two and create something beautiful to decorate your home with - whether you use it as a stunning centre-piece for your Christmas dinner or hang it proudly on your front door!
We will be using a mix of foraged foliage, traditional German Christmas wreath decorations and you can even add candles if you'd like to use this as table decor.
Advent wreaths are a tradition in Germany going back to the 19th century where it was first created to act as a kind of advent calendar, counting down the weeks until Christmas.
Traditionally in Germany, you place the wreath horizontally on the table and decorate it with 4-5 candles (normally 4 attached to the wreath and - if you opt for a 5th- that sits in the middle).
You light a candle each Sunday before Christmas starting with the first Advent (this year November 29th). Each Sunday you light an extra candle in addition until on Christmas all the candles on the wreath are lit!
Whether you come along to make one to decorate your door or would like to make one like this more traditional table decoration - we will have candle holders available to use for your wreath should you wish, but the candles themselves you'll need to source yourself!
Your ticket includes:
- A guided evening of Christmas crafting!
- A festive drink (alcoholic option available)
- Festive nibbles such as mince pies and some German baked goods
- All the tools required
- All the materials of which you can use most things for future Christmasses including a metal wreath ring and decorations sourced from Germany including candle holders should you wish to use them (candles will need to be sourced yourself)
- Fresh sustainably and ethically foraged foliage! (There is a slightly cheaper ticket option available should you want to bring your own foliage in which case you can source it yourself or you are welcome to join us on Saturday 21st November at 8am for a foraging outing - place to be communicated closer to the time but will likely require driving to)
