Peace in the Desert Church Invites Community to Christmas Cantata Featuring Orchestra and Three ChoirsCelebrate the season through beloved carols, inspiring music and the timeless story of Christmas on December 13.
The community is invited to experience the joy and wonder of Christmas at Peace in the Desert Church on Sunday, December 13, at 10 a.m., during its annual Christmas Cantata featuring Christmas Canticles, composed by Benjamin Harlan.
Musical directors Darin Read and Livia Gho will lead a festive musical celebration featuring a live orchestra and three choirs: adult, teen, and children’s. Kim Montana directs the teen and children’s choirs, bringing together singers of all ages for a memorable, multigenerational celebration.
Through rich orchestral accompaniment, inspiring choral arrangements and narration, Christmas Canticles shares the timeless story of Christ’s birth. Blending familiar Christmas carols with original music, the cantata moves from joyful celebration to quieter moments of reflection on the hope, peace and love at the heart of the season. Congregational singing invites everyone to join in, making this a shared celebration rather than simply a performance.
“Cantata Sunday is one of those special traditions that reminds us what Christmas is all about,” said Darin Read, musical director at Peace in the Desert Church. “When voices, instruments and generations come together to tell the story of Jesus’ birth, the music becomes more than something we hear. It becomes something we experience together. We invite the entire community to join us for this beautiful morning of worship and celebration.”
Whether continuing a beloved Christmas tradition, discovering the beauty of a cantata for the first time or simply looking for a meaningful way to celebrate the season, everyone is welcome. Families, friends and neighbors throughout Scottsdale are invited to gather for a morning of music, worship and Christmas joy. No church membership is needed—just come as you are and experience the spirit of the season with the Peace in the Desert community.
