The 48th Annual Gail Silver Memorial Lecture will be presented by Christine Sun Kim, an American artist based in Berlin. Working across drawing, performance, video, and large-scale murals, Kim explores the complexities of communication and her relationship to spoken and signed languages, her built and social environments, and the world at large. Using musical notation, infographics, and language—including her native American Sign Language (ASL) and written English—Kim creates work that invites audiences to consider how we communicate, interpret, and connect with one another. In this lecture, Kim will reflect on her artistic practice and the ideas that shape it.
