Meet at the 2nd floor food court in International Village Mall.
Join us for a street photography walk through Chinatown Vancouver and the surrounding blocks. Together we have over 15 years of experience with street photography and our founding members of the Vancouver Street Photography Collective.
This walk is open to all levels. The focus is on observation, timing, and working with our surroundings. We will move through a mix of streets and intersections, looking at light, layering, reflections, and gesture. There is a lot to work with in this area. Older storefronts, signage, and everyday street activity create strong opportunities for composition. We will also spend time thinking about how people move through space and how to position yourself to make that readable in the frame.
There will be time to stop, talk through what you are seeing, and adjust your approach as we go. If you are newer to street photography, the goal is to help you slow down and become more deliberate. If you have more experience, this is a chance to refine how you see and respond to a scene.
We walk in all weather, rain or shine. Different conditions often create stronger images, so come prepared and ready to work with whatever the city gives us.
Street16 Photo Walks: Participant Agreement and Release of Liability
By registering for and participating in a Street16 photo walk, I acknowledge and agree that:
- Assumption of risk: I understand that photo walks involve potential risks, including traffic, uneven surfaces, weather conditions, crowds and other hazards in public spaces. I voluntarily accept these risks.
- Personal responsibility: I am responsible for my own safety, actions, photography equipment and personal belongings. I agree to remain aware of my surroundings, obey traffic signals and applicable laws, and follow reasonable safety instructions from the walk leaders.
- Release of liability: To the extent permitted by law, I release Street16, its organizers and walk leaders from liability for injury, loss or damage arising from my participation, including liability resulting from ordinary negligence where legally permissible. This does not exclude liability that cannot legally be waived.
