About the Creators:
Carren Jao is an award-winning Chinese Filipina storyteller born and raised in the Philippines. A longtime Angeleno and now a Seattle resident, she wrote The Shape of Love inspired by the distinct smell of freshly opened balikbayan boxes and the happy memories of digging through these cardboard treasure chests. She is fascinated by the common threads between people of different cultures and hopes her stories help paint a clearer, richer picture of Filipino and Chinese culture in children's books.
Chloe Ito Ward is the author of Chopsticks Are, All the Ways We Learn, Made for More, Love Grows Here, and forthcoming picture books Yuqi’s Special Delivery, My Mind is an Ocean and more! A former curriculum director, Chloe has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She spent a decade teaching kindergarten where she discovered her passion for picture books.
