We are thrilled to invite you to our annual winter concert, Chiaroscuro, at the beautiful St. Andrews River Heights United Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba.“Chiaroscuro” means “light and shadow” in Italian, and is often used to describe paintings that use extreme contrasts of dark and light. Artists like Caravaggio, da Vinci, and Rembrandt famously employ chiaroscuro techniques. These extremes coexist in art, whether it is paintings or music, to create dramatic beauty, like the repertoire we have for our first concert of the season.
