About Tamar Chanadiri

Born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, Tamar Chanadiri, has been captivated by the game of chess since she was just five years old. Her father, a passionate chess enthusiast, introduced Tamar to this beautiful game and helped her develop her skills. With his encouragement, she began training with a coach, and has been playing professionally ever since.

In 1999, Tamar moved to the United States, and despite the challenges of adapting to a new country, she remained dedicated to competing in chess tournaments. During high school, she achieved notable successes, including 1st place individually and 2nd place as a team in the New Jersey Scholastics High School Championship. She also secured 1st place in the US Amateur East (NJ) U1800 tournament. Today, Tamar holds a USCF rating of 1900 and continues to actively participate in competitions.

Tamar’s love for chess extends beyond playing; she is passionate about teaching. Chess offers valuable life lessons, fostering logical thinking and decision-making skills while providing opportunities to make lasting friendships at tournaments. With extensive experience in teaching, Tamar currently leads after-school chess programs in New York City.
