Self-taught East Texas artist and advocate Charles Arnold’s primary art form is diversity. His interests are vast, his inspirations arrive from unexpected places, and his curiosity wanders wherever it pleases. He works with unusual materials and non-traditional techniques to create pieces that are delightfully unpredictable.
Recently, much of his attention has been given to his excavation paintings—built from 50 layers of paint, then carved into with wood-carving gouges. Paint, patiently accumulated, then excavated.
Charles now has a new gallery inhabiting the expanse of gallerist and friend Bridget Stiles’s Lab on Green.
And he has been busy. A lot of paint. A little sculpture. A nod to the masters, cultural icons, and a few pieces on peace.
We’re going to warm the place up properly with a new exhibition:
MASTERS & PIECES
Gallery Warming Exhibition
Pours and light hors d’oeuvres provided.
Cullen Ray spinning the ambiance.
Come see where Charles has been lately and wander the new space.
Come curious.
