What’s more Canadian than the pine tree? Come with KS on a whirlwind tour of East, West, and everything in between.About this Event
‘Pine’ from Ink and Gesture - Kristen Flores
‘Jack Pine’ Piano Concerto- Maggie Lu, with guest artist Derek Chu
Telluric Ache - Sonny-Ray Day Rider
Crisantemi - Giacomo Puccini
Such Sweet Sorrow - John Estacio
Pianist Derek Chu joins us for the world premiere of Maggie Lu’s piano concerto, which aims to reconcile Eastern, Western, and Indigenous cultural interpretations of the jack pine. Kristin Flores and SR Day Rider convey the joy and sorrow of the land for all who live here, while Puccini and Estacio remind us that the ugliness of chaos can preceed the beauty of creation.
