Chair Yoga is not a “modified” practice — it is an accessible, intelligent, and highly relevant format that allows more people to experience the benefits of yoga.
This workshop equips yoga teachers with the knowledge and tools to confidently teach chair-based classes in a variety of settings — including senior centers, corporate offices, community programs, and rehabilitation environments.
You’ll learn how to adapt traditional yoga postures safely and effectively for students with limited mobility, aging populations, or workplace environments.
In this workshop, you will explore:
• The foundations and principles of Chair Yoga
• Understanding target populations and their needs
• Accessibility and inclusivity in modern yoga teaching
• Physical and mental health benefits of chair-based practice
• Safety considerations and contraindications
• Alignment and support in seated and standing variations
• Warm-up, active, and relaxation sequences
• How to build and structure a complete Chair Yoga class
Participants will engage in both discussion and hands-on practice, including building and teaching a short chair yoga sequence.
