About this Event
**Important location information in bold below**
County Grounds Park (CGP) has been identified as a key site within the Milwaukee Estuary Area of Concern (AOC), a federal designation for environmentally degraded regions. Federally funded, the project specifically addresses Beneficial Use Impairments such as habitat loss and water quality issues within the Menomonee River watershed. This multi-year effort focuses on removing invasive species and restoring native ecosystems. The AOC for CGP now inclides a final draft Ecological Restoration Management Plan (ERMP). To facilitate public involvement, the Milwaukee County Parks Area of Concern Project Manager is hosting an educational event to share updates on the restoration plan and the eventual "delisting" of the AOC.
Please join us at County Grounds Park on Sunday October 11th at 1pm.
Event may include some off-path walking, so wear sturdy footwear. Appropriate for all ages. Dress for the weather, there are no onsite restrooms. Registration requested for planning purposes.

County Grounds Park is located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and primarily consists of a variety of natural areas, beautiful rolling hills, trails, and historic sites which makes it a popular destination for birders, hikers, photographers, and history buffs! The County Grounds project is approximately 185 acres and also includes sections of natural area within Hoyt Park, and the Menomonee River Parkway. This natural space within the County has lots of opportunity for restoration to improve wildlife habitat and build sustainable wildlife populations in the park. This project is focused on creating habitat improvements to benefit the wildlife within the park, with a priority focus on breeding birds, frogs, and snakes!
