The Patrick Michael Dunne Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of a remarkable man who showed that circumstances do not define a person—and that the kindness of others can change the course of a life.
Patrick “Pat” Dunne grew up facing extraordinary hardship. He lost his mother when he was just 11 years old and his father at age 13. At critical moments in his childhood, two separate couples—neither of whom had children of their own—opened their hearts to Pat. They loved him, supported him, and gave him the opportunity to believe in a future beyond the circumstances he had been given. Pat never forgot what their kindness meant.
The Patrick Michael Dunne Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who, like Pat, demonstrates determination, resilience, spirit, community stewardship, and a curiosity for lifelong learning.
Pat's life is a testament to what can happen when determination meets opportunity, when hardship is met with courage, and when kindness is paid forward.
This scholarship is given in his memory so that his legacy of service, generosity, and resilience may continue through another young person beginning their own journey.
May the recipient carry forward what Pat learned early in life: sometimes one person's kindness can change everything—and the greatest way to honor that kindness is to pass it on.
