Gabrielle "Gaby" Dietz Rilee, 33, of North Chesterfield, Virginia, was surrounded by family as she passed away on October 10, 2026. Gaby was diagnosed with breast cancer in December of 2021. She endured surgeries, recurrences, chemo, radiation, and clinical trials with inner strength and determination, amazing even those who knew her best.
Gaby was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Dietz, and her heart dog, Murphy. She is survived by her husband of eight years, Nicholas "Nick" Rilee, her mother, Roberta "Bobbie" Dietz, her brothers, Gaston Dietz and his wife, Morgan, and Jason Dietz and his wife, Terri, nieces and nephews, Amelia "Milly", Graham, Rory, Jalina, Shaun, and Waverlyn, her dogs, Zoey and Floki, and numerous friends. She will be deeply missed.
Gaby loved to travel and be out on the open road. She especially enjoyed and cherished the memories from road trips with Nick and getaways with her close friends. She savored good food, especially sushi, Mexican, and Chinese, and she was always ready for the next great meal. Halloween was her favorite day of the year, and scary movies were always a favorite. As a teenager, she was obsessed with The Sims and could lose whole afternoons to it.
Gaby loved being the manager of and a swim coach for dogs at Paws to Swim. Dogs held a huge piece of Gaby's heart, and this passion allowed her to positively affect the lives of many dogs, as well as their owners. She adored her own dogs, Zoey and Floki. She and Floki were unstoppable: within the first two and a half years of Floki's life, they participated in and earned the AKC's Junior Hunter Title, AKC FastCAT titles, and North American Sport Dog Association (NASDA) titles in Trailing Brace, Trailing & Locating, and Urban Locating. Through their work together, Gaby showcased Floki's abilities.
