Join Barrow on Bikes and Westmorland and Furness Council for a community celebration ride to mark the official launch of the new cycling infrastructure on Abbey Road in Barrow-in-Furness.
Taking place on Wednesday 30 September 2026, this friendly community cycle ride will bring together residents, , local cycling groups and supporters to experience the new route and celebrate investment in safer, more accessible cycling across the town.
Whether you're a regular cyclist or simply enjoy getting out on two wheels, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a landmark moment for cycling in Barrow. The ride will showcase the new infrastructure between Ramsden Square and Park Drive. The route will promote active travel and demonstrate the growing support for safe and sustainable transport within our community.

This is a free event, but registration is required (Places are limited). 🚲🎉

- Participation in this cycling event is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over.
- By attending and taking part in the event, participants do so at their own risk. Westmorland and Furness Council and event organisers accept no liability for any injury, loss or damage sustained during the event, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
- For your safety, all participants are strongly encouraged to wear a correctly fitted cycle helmet and ensure their bicycle is roadworthy.
Walking and Wheeling Event
A separate walk and wheel event will also be organised for the same date, which will be open to participants of all ages. This event will be fully inclusive and suitable for all pedestrians. This includes people who may use a mobility aid, wheelchair or push scooter to help get along, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to experience and celebrate the new Abbey Road Active Travel infrastructure.
