After some scheduling issues we have settled on holding this event on Tim's birthday, Dec. 13th.Please join us in remembrance of Tim Matson, beloved father, collaborator, and friend. We will be holding space for some closure and celebration on the life of our dad at The Starr Theater (previously The Broach) in downtown Greensboro. Here are a few details, but feel free to reach out to me (Sam) if you have any questions or would like to contribute an idea/skill/etc. to the event. Thank you and we hope to see you there!
- We will have a communal grief altar of sorts set up and encourage you to consider bringing something along with you that reminds you of Tim. It doesn't have to make sense to anyone but you, and is not required. People will be free to touch and look at the items, but anything you bring will return home with you at the end of the event.
- If you have any songs that you associate with Tim, send me (Sam) a message as I am putting together a playlist for the event. I will make it public on Spotify and post a link for anyone interested.
- If you have stories or feelings about Tim to share, there will be time for folks to say a few words, but you are also welcome to share memories here. If you are a performer and have a short song/monologue/poem/etc. that has a connection to Tim, that would also be welcome.
- Posting here or sending me pictures of memories with Tim would be lovely, and some may end up being used in a slideshow for the event.
- Street parking is limited, but there are various paid lots and parking decks nearby
This is the updated plan/reschedule for this event. I may update this as the plans come together more. We are also likely to have some sort of after-party to eat/drink/reminisce but haven't yet decided on a location.
