About this Event

About the workshop:

Join artist and educator, Apanaki Temitayo, for an immersive and creative journey through the vibrant world of mixed-media and African textile art collages in our upcoming spring workshops. These workshops are designed to inspire and empower participants of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists, to explore the fusion of different artistic mediums and the rich cultural heritage of African textiles.

Here's a glimpse of what each workshop will offer:

May 24th: Celebrate Spring Blooms Collage and Paint

  • Paint an 8” x 10” canvas for the background of your floral collage.
  • Cut African textiles into circles of different sizes to make flower layers.
  • Add coloured buttons for decoration.

May 31st: Mixed Media Stained Glass Art

  • Cut out a stained-glass floral design from black cardstock.
  • Make a collage with tissue paper on parchment paper.
  • Glue the collage to the back of the cardstock for a stained-glass effect.

June 7th: Butterfly Bliss: Metamorphosis and Renewal

  • Create a collage art piece with a butterfly theme using tear paper.
  • Use an 8” x 10” canvas, art paper, and Mod Podge for the collage.
  • Let your creativity flow!

June 14th: Blooming Flowers Alcohol Ink Straw Art

  • Use Yupo Paper and Alcohol Ink to make Spring Flowers.
  • Drop alcohol ink in the center of the paper and blow to create a flower center.
  • Add dots of ink around the center to form petals.
  • Repeat to create as many blooms as you like on the page.

All required materials will be provided on the day of the workshop. Registration is required as space is limited per group. No experience necessary.
