Kick off Opt Outside season with CDTC and REI Co-op in Helena! Join L Fisher, CDTC’s Director of Trail Programs, for a 2.5-mile hike up Mount Ascension in Helena’s South Hills, right in one of our Montana Gateway Communities.This hike is part of Opt Outside, REI Co-op’s movement to spend time outside instead of shopping, and it’s also a Pride on the Divide celebration of the LGBTQ+ community on the Continental Divide Trail. Everyone is welcome. There’s no wrong way to Opt Outside®.
We’ll start early and wrap up by about 11:00 AM, so there’s plenty of Saturday left when we’re done. Share your photos with #OptOutside and tag @REI and @cdtcoalition.
Good to know:
- Early November mornings in Helena are cold, and the trail may have snow or ice.
- Wear warm layers, gloves, a hat, and sturdy boots, and bring water.
- Vault toilets are available at the trailhead.
