The Buronga Catch-a-Carp Family Fishing Day is a free Gone Fishing Day event, bringing the local community together for a fun day of fishing on the Murray River at Buronga.https://ozfish.org.au/event/buronga-carp-fishing-day-nsw-oct-2026/
Families, kids and anglers of all experience levels are encouraged to get involved, enjoy time by the river and help remove invasive carp from our waterways.
Never been fishing before? No problem! Fishing rods and bait will be available to borrow on the day, making it easy for first-time fishers to have a go without needing their own gear.
Participants can fish for carp throughout the event, with any native fish caught safely returned to the water. There will be plenty of chances to win great prizes, along with snacks and drinks available on the day.
Whether you’re a keen angler or picking up a fishing rod for the first time, come along, wet a line, enjoy the Murray River and help give our native fish a better chance!
What to bring
- Closed-toe shoes that may get wet.
- Suitable clothing for working outdoors.
- Hat, sunscreen and insect repellent.
- Drink bottle and snacks.
- Fishing gear.
- Bring your boat if you’d like to fish from the water instead of the bank.
