The first season of screenings, September to December 2026, is presented by the Chicago Film Office in partnership with the City's “Art is Labor” initiative, where a selection of contemporary films will explore what it looks like to be a creative worker in the 21st century, the importance of creative workers in the economic and cultural ecosystem, and their often-invisible everyday struggles. Post-screening discussions will keep the conversation going and provide information on resources available to Chicago's arts and culture community and creative workers.

Mike Birbiglia explores the uncomfortable truths that emerge when two members of a veteran sketch comedy troupe finally get called to the late-night big leagues -- and the line between colleague and rival begins to blur. The film explores the highs and challenges of pursuing creative work, from collaboration and artistic ambition to jealousy, uncertainty and the pressure to “make it.”
