Drawing + Design at Erie Labor TempleCome draw.
Cashewdude’s Comics Lab is a weekly, hands-on drawing and design session led by Erie artist, illustrator, and character creator known as Cashewdude.
These workshops are for beginners, hobbyists, developing artists, character makers, comic-minded people, and anybody who has been telling themselves for years that they “wish they could draw.”
You don't need to know what you're doing before you walk in.
That's part of the point.
Over three hours, Cashewdude works with the room through guided drawing and design exercises, demonstrations, conversation, individual help, and plenty of actual drawing time. You'll work through the kinds of decisions that turn a loose idea into something you can see on paper — shape, expression, character, composition, exaggeration, visual storytelling, and the thousand little choices that happen between a blank page and a finished drawing.
This isn't about teaching everybody to draw like Cashewdude.
It's about the artist opening up his process and helping you develop yours.
Some people will arrive wanting to create characters. Some will be interested in comics or illustration. Some haven't drawn seriously since they were kids. Others already keep a sketchbook and simply want more practice, feedback, and a good room to work in.
All of them belong at the table.
There is no prerequisite and no need to have attended a previous session. Each workshop works on its own, so you can drop in when you're able. If you enjoy it, come back the following week and keep building on what you've learned.
Because three hours of drawing is useful.
Six is better.
And somewhere along the way, the hand starts catching up with the idea in your head.
Beginners are absolutely welcome. Curiosity helps considerably.
