⭐ Cash & Dylan: The Nashville Sessions⭐
Of Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, Rolling Stone Magazine said: “They are both master singers, master storytellers, and master bluesmen. They share the same tradition, they are good friends and the work of each can tell you about the work of the other.” And that’s really our vision with this show. Looking at the relationship of these two country/folk giants gives a unique lens of perspective on their music and the genre as a whole. Despite their mutual admiration the pair would cross paths only occasionally in their careers. The centerpiece of this show celebrates a day in 1969 when they met accidentally at Colombia Records in Nashville and they kicked off an impromptu jam session. The tracks they made during the Nashville Sessions were unpolished and went unpublished for years. We bring them to you now live and energized, as well as some greatest hits, and a few imagined collaborations in their spirit. We hope to do honor to these two legends!
Colin Summers has spent the last decade performing across the country and the world, as an actor and musician. Favorite recent shows include multiple productions of Million Dollar Quartet, and lead guitar duties for Breton Thunder onboard Holland America Line. His solo show Steve: A Docu-musical won Best Production of A Musical at the 2015 New York Innovative Theater Awards.
Michael D Potter is currently performing as Johnny Cash right around the corner at Stolp Island Theater in their production of Million Dollar Quartet! He has made a career largely around his musical idol Johnny Cash, portraying him in many productions all over the country. You may have seen him in a few around the Chicago area like Ring of Fire at Drury Lane Theatre, and MDQ-Christmas at Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire.
Colin Summers and Michael Potter have been playing music together for years and they are thrilled to debut this show with you at The Music Venue!
Coming in hot and sharing the stage we have borrowed three other band members from Stolp Island Theater’s MDQ! Laying down grooves like no one can, it's Robert Brandon on drums (@rb_percussion), and slapping an upright bass, it's rockabilly-royalty Roy James Brown(@bassmanroy56)!
And our special guest, with the vocal stylings of June Carter and Joan Baez, we are excited to be joined by local favorite Madison Palmer(@madison.emery)!
