About this Event

Clay Pumpkin Carving Class at The Pottery Shop (DI & Durango)

Carve your own clay jack-o’-lanterns at The Pottery Shop—but don’t wait! This limited-time experience is only available for a short time..

Each $50 Pumpkin Pair ticket includes:

• Two handmade clay pumpkins to carve
• Use of carving tools and supplies
• Your choice of glaze color, applied by our studio

Keep both pumpkins for yourself, or bring a friend and carve one pumpkin each! During checkout, you’ll let us know whether we should reserve one or two seats for your ticket.

No clay experience is needed. We’ll show you how to safely carve your designs, then you can make your pumpkins spooky, sweet or completely your own.

Please allow approximately 45–90 minutes to complete your pumpkins.

Ages 10+. Anyone participating must be included under a Pumpkin Pair ticket; no additional spectators, please.

Finished pumpkins will be ready for pickup in approximately four weeks. Ceramics are unpredictable, and occasional cracking may occur during drying or firing.

We are a CASHLESS studio. All major credit cards and Apple Pay are accepted.

Important: This is a hands-on workshop and seating is reserved for participants. No spectators. All guests attending must have a paid reservation.

Finishing Options

Studio Glazed — Included: Choose your glaze color and we’ll glaze and fire your piece for you.

Glaze It Yourself — Additional Fee: Return for one of our glazing workshops, offered several times each month, to glaze your piece yourself before its final firing. (Please note we cannot guarantee a workshop will take place in time for the spooky season)

Important Things to Know

This is a beginner handbuilding experience — no pottery wheel.

Ceramics are an unpredictable medium, and we cannot guarantee that your piece will survive the drying, bisque firing or glaze firing process. Cracking, warping, separation, breakage and variations in shape or glaze can occur. Clay also shrinks approximately 15% from wet clay to the finished piece.

If your does not survive the process, you may choose a finished piece as a memento of your session.

Class length is approximately 45 minutes–2 hours, depending on class size, skill level and project details. Classes begin and end at the published times.
