Your practical, judgment-free guide to decluttering and organizingThird Place Books welcomes decluttering coach Carrie Powell for a talk on her new book, The Midlife Edit: A Guide to Decluttering and Organizing to Make Space for What's Next.
By midlife, most homes are filled with decades of belongings—your own, your children’s, and often your parents’ too. The result? Overwhelm, decision fatigue, and a home that no longer fits your next chapter. This guide gives you the tools to reclaim your space, reduce stress, and move forward with clarity.
This event is free and open to the public. For important updates, RSVP is highly recommended in advance. This event will include a public signing and time for audience Q&A. Sustain our author series by purchasing a copy of the featured book!

Carrie Powell is a professional organizer and decluttering coach. As a midlifer and almost-empty nester, she draws on her personal experience and that of hundreds of clients to inform her approach to midlife decluttering. She has witnessed (and coached!) countless transformations that have changed lives for the better. She found organizing and coaching as a career in midlife, after spending 30 years in Fashion Merchandising at Nordstrom. Even though her own home is organized, a pandemic-fueled decluttering frenzy led to a newfound appreciation for the art of curating a lifetime of possessions and its impact on the next life’s chapter. Her coaching is rooted in habits, shifting mindsets, and building muscle that breaks down overwhelm.
