Caring for the Caregiver: Grief-Care Tools for Those Who Care for Others
If you care for others and face grief as part of that journey, this event is for you.
Nurses, PSWs, support workers, retirement and long-term care staff, hospice and palliative teams, and hospital staff carry something the rest of the world rarely sees: the steady, accumulating weight of other people’s grief as well as their own. You are so often the calm in someone else’s worst moment. But how do you cope and carry this burden so you can continue serving well?
Join funeral director and author, Daniel Verkoeyen, for a warm, honest, and practical evening created especially for the people who walk beside loss every day. Drawing on real stories from decades in death care and the wound-care framework from his book Grief Bleeds: Healing in Loss, Daniel offers a clear and compassionate map for understanding grief — and a toolkit you can use both at the bedside and in your own life.
In this event, you will:
- Gain practical, ready-to-use tools for supporting grieving patients, residents, and families
- Learn to recognize compassion fatigue, burnout, and the hidden grief caregivers carry
