About this Event
Leicestershire County Council will be celebrating Carers Rights Day and launching our new Leicestershire Carers Strategy 2026-2030 on Thursday 19 November.
Carers Rights Day raises awareness of the 5.8 million unpaid carers across the UK, helping people understand their rights and the support available to them. It also encourages people to recognise their caring role sooner so they can access the help and advice they need.
This year's theme is: "Someone you know is a carer - but do they know it yet?"
During the day, you'll hear about carers' rights and available support services. Key partners will be attending to explain how we will work together to deliver the priorities set out in the new strategy. There will also be a range of information stalls offering advice, guidance and support for carers.
To support carers' health and wellbeing, we will be running a series of activities and workshops during the event, including:
- Carers Connecting with a Cuppa - an opportunity to meet and connect with other carers
- Mindfulness
- Tai Chi
- Laughter Yoga
Places for these activities are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To book a place for an activity, please email [email protected] and specify which activity you would like to attend.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
There will also be a raffle draw on the day, with the chance to win a hamper.
If you are a Leicestershire carer supporting someone who lives within the Leicestershire County boundaries, please book your place.
If you need support with travelling to County Hall, please email [email protected], as we may be able to help.
Arrivals from 9.30am. The event will begin at 10.00am.
The event is free to attend, but booking is essential.
We hope to see you there!
