About this Event
Health, Social Care, CQC & the Challenges Facing Local Providers
Join us for an evening of open discussion with Tom Gordon MP, Member of Parliament for Harrogate and Knaresborough, bringing together local care, health and community professionals to discuss the challenges facing the sector.
This is an opportunity to raise questions, share experiences and put forward ideas for change directly to our local MP.
What will we discuss?
We want to hear from those working on the frontline about issues including:
- Rising costs and financial pressures on care providers
- Recruitment and staffing challenges
- CQC inspections, ratings and the impact of delays between inspections
- The challenges faced by providers rated below 'Good', including potential difficulties accessing local authority contracts and approved provider lists
- The impact on people waiting for care and the pressure this creates for families
- Delayed hospital discharges and the knock-on effect on the NHS
- Increasing pressure on local authorities and whether existing local care providers are being fully utilised
- How we could better connect people with local companionship care, private carers and community support to help people remain independent and reduce pressure on hospitals and local authority services
Your voice matters
This will be an interactive discussion, not simply a presentation.
When booking, you will have the opportunity to submit a question or concern you would like raised during the evening. We want to hear what is affecting you, your organisation and the people you support.

Care home owners and managers, home care providers, private carers, companionship providers, health and social care professionals, community organisations and anyone involved in supporting people within our local community.
