But City's season has been turbulent — a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid five days before the final adds pressure Guardiola hasn't faced in English football before.
The last time these two met in a League Cup Final was 2018, when City won 3-0 in what became Guardiola's first trophy in England. Arteta was sat in the City dugout that afternoon as his assistant. Now the apprentice returns to Wembley on the other side, leading the best Arsenal squad in a generation.
