Cara Jean Wahlers & Aaron Stroup with special guest John GilmoreSaturday, November 7 | Seest Music Room | 7pm concert start | $20
Join us for an evening of intimate acoustic music, storytelling, and song at one of our all-time favorite venues, the Seest Music Room.
Aaron and I are thrilled to return to this special place to share songs from our new album, Hometown Boy, along with some old favorites. We’re also delighted that our good friend John Gilmore will be joining us for the evening.
ABOUT CJW & AARON STROUP:
Indianapolis singer-songwriter Cara Jean Wahlers writes deeply personal songs about love, loss, memory, and the complicated business of being human. With a background in visual art and a love of storytelling, her music draws from folk, Americana, and the singer-songwriter tradition.
Her new album, Hometown Boy, is her first full-length release since 2010’s Goodnight Charlotte. Recorded in Indianapolis with guitarist Aaron Stroup, the nine-song collection is an intimate, stripped-down collaboration built entirely around two acoustic guitars and Cara’s voice. With no drums or elaborate production, the record leaves room for the songs, the stories, and the quiet spaces between them.
Aaron is an accomplished Indianapolis guitarist whose sensitive, inventive playing brings warmth and depth to the arrangements. Together, the two have created a sound that feels less like a traditional recording and more like sitting in a room with a couple of musicians sharing songs.
ABOUT JOHN GILMORE:
John Gilmore is an award-winning Central Indiana singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music draws from folk, bluegrass, blues, and country traditions. A gifted storyteller with a wry sense of humor, John writes songs that range from poignant and introspective to playful and whimsical.
Influenced by songwriters including John Prine, Guy Clark, and Kris Kristofferson, his expressive fingerstyle and flatpicking guitar work has been a hallmark of his music for more than three decades. John performs both solo and with the Lenwood Trio and has released two collections of original songs.
ABOUT THE VENUE:
The Seest Music Room is a cozy private residence with a beautiful space dedicated to live performance. It’s a wonderful place to experience music up close, in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where listening, storytelling, and conversation are all part of the evening.
Seating is guaranteed but limited, so we ask that you RSVP in advance.
Reservations: Please email John Seest at [email protected]. He’ll reply with your confirmation and the address of his home.
We’re looking forward to sharing this music with you in such a lovely setting. Hope you’ll join us!
