Cape Fear Shakespeare on the Green has been among Wilmington’s most anticipated summer traditions since 1993. The annual free-to-the-public Shakespeare festival, in association with the City of Wilmington, opens June 9, and continues throughout the month of June. Visitors to Historic Wilmington and North Carolina’s Cape Fear Coast can experience and enjoy free live productions of the Bard's works at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater. A great family evening underneath the stars, and an unmatched spirit of community in one of Wilmington’s most beloved parks.The Shakespeare Youth Company, celebrating its 16th year opens our season June 9. They kick off the season festival performing “Two Gentlemen of Verona” directed by Cherri McKay. Shakespeare’s first romantic comedy, features privileged youths with no real responsibility, living in a world where adults are on the parameter. It is exuberant, impulsive and prankishly sophomoric. The perfect setting for a great family evening underneath the stars.

Our annual festival show opens June 18. Shakespeare on the Green company members from years past alongside new members, perform “Shakespeare, a very Midsummer Madness”, a compilation of Shakespeare’s Comedy, Tragedy, History, and Roman plays.

CFS also presents a special one evening only performance June 22, hosted by Malvolio, from 12th Night. “Shakespeare, a very Midsummer Solstice”, is an evening of Tomfoolery featuring live music, standup comedians, Improv and an array of visual artists.
