Accessibility commitment
CAPDHHE is committed to creating a welcoming, accessible conference experience.
The event will be hosted at the SFU Harbour Centre 515 W Hastings St. Public and gender-neutral washrooms are available, and all public washrooms are equipped with wheelchair- accessible stalls. If you require ASL interpreters or have any other accessibility needs, please contact us at [email protected] at least two weeks prior to the event. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
Code of conduct / respectful participation
CAPDHHE and SFU, as hosts, are committed to a respectful, harassment-free learning environment. By registering, attendees agree to engage professionally and respectfully. Conference staff may address concerns promptly to support safety and inclusion.
When we engage in complex issues, there is always potential for misunderstandings and communication breakdowns that can cause harm and offense, as well as the possibility that discriminatory views may be expressed. We also recognize that speaking publicly and sharing one’s perspective carries different levels of risk for different people, depending on their identities, lived experiences, and relative privilege.
We will do everything in our power to convene safer spaces by investing the time and resources needed for thoughtful planning and skilled facilitation in collaboration with our partners.
Pre-conference Leadership Forum
Please note there is also a pre-conference Leadership Forum taking place on October 14, 2026—an invitation-only, one-day event co-chaired by Dr. Yabome Gilpin-Jackson (SFU) and Dr. Arig al Shaibah (UBC). This pre-conference Leadership Forum is intended for senior EDI and human rights institutional leaders (for example, Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents, Deans, and the institution’s most senior EDI and Human Rights leaders). Individuals in these roles will be contacted directly. If you fall into this category and have not received an email invitation, please reach out to [email protected].
