Discover the beauty and freedom of watercolor on stretched canvas in this fun and inspiring workshop with instructor Evie Grasse.
Participants will create a luminous painting that celebrates the power of white space, allowing the canvas itself to become an important part of the composition. Explore how watercolor behaves on canvas while learning techniques for preserving whites, creating soft blends, layering color and adding expressive details.
Designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced painters looking to try something new.
As a special finishing touch, Evie will demonstrate how to seal and protect the completed painting using a soft-wax finish, enhancing the artwork while preserving its delicate watercolor appearance.
Materials: Participants should bring their own watercolor paints, brushes, a water cup and a sack lunch with a drink. One stretched canvas will be provided for each participant. SVA will provide hair dryers and paper towels.
About the Instructor: With 45 years of watercolor experience, Evie Grasse finds inspiration in the beauty of God’s creations and the simple moments of everyday life. Her paintings celebrate color, light and emotion through expressive brushstrokes and vibrant palettes. From landscapes and wildlife to scenes from daily life, her work reflects joy, wonder and an appreciation for the world around us.
