About this Event
Canterbury Folkwalk Pilgrimage:
From miracles to magical protection, the medieval practice of English pilgrimage is rich with strange customs and beliefs. This walk invites you to navigate pilgrim folklore on foot. We’ll gather at a location outside the city walls, follow part of Chaucer’s famous pilgrimage route into Canterbury, enter the cathedral city via an ancient gate, and pause at atmospheric sites along the way. We’ll finish our pilgrimage in true medieval style with a song and a drink at the Chequers of Hope Tavern, in the heart of the immersive Canterbury Tales Experience.
Led by writer, walking artist and psychogeographer Sonia Overall.
