Class Description:
What’s the secret to growing these intriguing plants successfully? Adeniums are becoming a popular hobby, but they can be a challenge to grow. We’ll talk about the origins of these plants and how you can be the envy of your family, friends, and neighbors when your lovely plants thrive and bloom!
Participants will learn:
- Describe some of the components of a suitable soil for an adenium.
- Explain the significance of overwatering an adenium.
- Identify some of the most common pests and diseases of adeniums.
- Describe the most common methods of propagating adeniums.
- Summarize how to help your adenium in to or out of dormancy.
- Show parts of an adenium plant that might be used to help identify what species it might be.

Kathy completed and certified as a Maricopa County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener five years ago after moving to the Phoenix area from Colorado. Kathy regularly represents the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Program through participation in Ask A Master Gardener, Speakers Bureau and Plant Help Desk roles fulfilling the mission to bring the University of Arizona research to our Maricopa County community. Kathy truly promotes the concept of the Right Plant in the Right Place. In addition to being a Certified Master Gardener, she volunteered with the Desert Botanical Garden where she has assisted with special events, the Plant Sale and membership envoy. Kathy recently completed the Desert Landscape School through the Desert Botanical Garden and is now a Credential Holder.
