About this Event

Understanding the Overactive Mind

Can we actually control our thoughts?

Should we try to stop them?

Why does the mind sometimes become so noisy, repetitive or difficult to switch off?

And perhaps most importantly:

Can we trust everything our mental chatter tells us?

In this experiential mindfulness and emotional awareness class, we’ll explore the fascinating relationship between thoughts, stress and emotional reactions.

What kinds of thoughts tend to dominate our awareness?

Why do certain thoughts seem to grab our attention more strongly than others?

How can we tell when we’ve become caught in a stressful thought?

And what happens when a thought becomes the starting point for an entire emotional chain reaction?

Through guided awareness practices, discussion and an immersive meditative story, we’ll explore a different way of relating to the constant stream of thoughts moving through the mind.

The goal isn’t to force the mind to become silent.

So what is the alternative?

Come explore the question for yourself.
